Europomice has been one of the main Sponsors of the U.S. GREY TO GREEN CONFERENCE – the multidisciplinary event featuring designers, researchers, policy makers, installers and manufacturers who are working to implement living green infrastructure to protect our watersheds, increase the resilience of our communities and improve our health and well being – that was take place in Washington DC on October 29-30.

Europomice was one of the main Sponsors of the GREY TO GREEN CONFERENCE, the annual regional sustainability conference with a focus on green infrastructure implementation at an urban and regional level hosted by Green Roofs for Healthy Cities and the Green Infrastructure Foundation, that took place in Toronto on April 4 & 5.

Grey to Green also highlighted the economic impacts of climate change adaptation such as flooding and the urban heat island. Flooding affects both the individual in terms of health and well being and has significant economic impacts for society. These issues will continue to get worse as climate change progresses, but green infrastructure can help.
This conference was the leading forum for designers, policy makers, manufacturers, growers, landscapers, and green infrastructure professionals.

The III INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON GROWING MEDIA, COMPOSTING AND SUBSTRATE ANALYSIS took place in Milan (Italy) June 24 – 28, 2019 and Europomice was one of the main Sponsors of this important event. The 2019 International Symposium was an ideal occasion for discussing and exchanging experiences on growing media and all connected topics: not only a scientific program, but also cultural and touristic events.

This was the second time that a meeting on substrates has been hold in Italy (the first being in 1992 in Florence) and since then the growing media industry had consistently expanded in Italy. According to the last European survey, the Italian market for growing media ranked only second to Germany and has reached its highest-ever value in Europe.

Symposium topics:

  • Novel inorganic and organic materials as soilless media
  • Technological advances in production, processing and use of growing media constituents
  • Adopting new technologies: green roofs, green walls, media for robotic systems
  • Advances in analytical characterization of growing media
  • Management of water and nutrient requirements of substrates
Composting processes and use of composted end-products as components of growing media
  • Microbiology and growing media: beneficial and disease-inciting microorganisms
  • Weed, pest and disease control in growing media
  • Advances in growing media additives
  • Hydroponics and aquaponics based systems
  • Soilless cultivation and horticulture sustainability
  • Advances in peat use sustainability
  • Life cycle assessment of growing media and components
  • Horticulture use of materials from bioenergy processes and biofactories (biochar, digestate, bioplastic)
